Winston Chung passed away on Tuesday December 31, 2019 at the age of 73 years. He is pre-deceased by his parents, James Chung and Ruby Hibbert and 3 of his siblings. Winston is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Jean; 4 children; 13 grand-children; 11 great-grandchildren and 4 of his siblings. Winston was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica and was the eldest of 8 children. He grew up and took his schooling in Jamaica. In 1970, he met Jean and they were married in 1976. Later that year, Winston immigrated to Alberta, Canada. He worked for over 30 years at the same company building compressors for equipment used in the oil and gas industry before taking his retirement in 2010. Winton was very sociable and friendly. He loved a good conversation, could talk about anything and was knowledgeable about a wide range of topics. He enjoyed going to festivals and events, was very active in the Jamaican community as well as in his church community where every Saturday he would enjoy a good game of dominoes. Winston always maintained an optimistic and positive attitude. He was enouraging, supportive and helpful to all those who sought his wise advice. Winston loved the Lord and he loved his family most of all. He was the family sage. They depended on him and him on them. He adored his grandchildren and had a special relationship (and nickname) for each one of them. Winston will be greatly missed by many extended family and friends in Canada, Jamaica and England. Visitation service will be held for Winston at Pierson’s Funeral Service (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Tuesday January 14 from 6-8pm. Funeral Service will be at Bridgeland Seventh-day Adventist Church (48 – 12 Street NE, Calgary) on Wednesday January 15, 2020 at 10:00 am.
