Maria Louise Raposo

Maria Louise Raposo, known as Louise, was a cherished member of her family and community, born on April 4, 1963, in Portugal. She peacefully passed away on June 23, 2025, at the Brentwood Care Centre in Calgary, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience.

Louise's journey began when her family immigrated to Canada in 1969. This significant move marked the start of a lifelong commitment to hard work and perseverance, traits that defined her both in her career and in her personal life. Louise dedicated many years as a telephone operator for Hudson's Bay Company and other organizations, always demonstrating an unwavering commitment to her work, even as her health began to wane. Her dedication did not go unnoticed; it was a testament to her feisty spirit and her determination to contribute positively to the world around her.

Family meant everything to Louise. She was a giving person at heart, always prioritizing the needs of her loved ones above her own. Louise is survived by her devoted mother, Maria Eduarda Raposo (Da Costa), and her beloved daughter, Cassandra/Eddie. She was the proud sister of Arthur (Cheryl) Raposo, Maria (Wade) Bell, Henry Raposo, and Nelly (Sam) Posata. Additionally, Louise adored her nieces and nephews—Kayla Moss, Megan, Marissa, and McKenna Raposo, Braeden Bell, Zackery & Haleigh Posata; great-nephews, Owen & Ashton Moss; and goddaughter, Grace Coggins. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she took great joy in their successes and milestones.

Louise was preceded in death by her father, Manuel Antonio Raposo, who played a pivotal role in shaping her early years. His memory lived on in Louise's stories and the values she passed on to her daughter and family.

A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate Louise's life will be held on June 30, 2025, at Pierson's Funeral Services in Calgary, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather to remember a remarkable woman whose spirit and love touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.

The indomitable spirit of Maria Louise Raposo will forever resonate in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of sharing moments with her.
