Monica Jo Hopkinson (née Williams)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Monica Jo Hopkinson (née Williams) on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the age of 50 years, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Monica spent the last four decades of her life in Calgary, Alberta, where she curated incredible friendships and unforgettable memories. Known for her unapologetically colorful outlook on life, Monica embraced life with courage, a sense of humour and a love for the simple joys that brought her happiness—including her adoration for Elmo.

We will miss her quick wit, her contagious laugh, and her selfless spirit.

Monica is survived by her husband, Andy Hopkinson; her sons, Schuylar Whyte and Shelby Hopkinson; stepsons, Andrew and Terry Hopkinson; granddaughter, Sadie Whyte; sister, Charlotte (Rob) Poncelet; nieces, Ashleigh McFadden and Kristina (Hasnain) Jones; nephew, Austin Rieger; brother, Robert Williams; sisters, Letitia (Landon) Gole, and Donna (Mark) Jeffares and their families; stepsister, Leslie Warder; stepbrother Eric Stauffer; her dad and stepmom, Robert and Beverly Williams; mother-in-law, Verna Partti; and many extended family including aunts, uncles, cousins and of course, her cats. Her memory will also be cherished by countless friends whose lives she touched.

Monica was predeceased by her husband, Sandy Whyte; mom, Linda Lines; sister, Kristina Williams; nieces and nephew, Jennifer, Melissa, and Andrew Milliken; father-in-law, Al Partti; as well as her grandparents, all of whom we know welcome her into their embrace.

A Memorial Service to honour Monica’s life will be held at Pierson’s Funeral Service (4121 17 Ave S.E., Calgary, Alberta) on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. All who knew and loved Monica are welcome to join in celebrating her life and the beautiful impact she had.

In honour of her colourful spirit, wear something bright (purple if you can) tell a funny story, and hug someone a little tighter.
