It is with heavy hearts that the family of William “Bill” Karl Meyer announces his passing on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the age of 58 years. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda; his children, Jerad and Kristen; his sister, Ruth (Don); as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Christian and Veronica. Bill was born in Windsor, Ontario and it was his sense of adventure that took him to Red Deer, Alberta where he started a long and successful drilling-exploration career with Chevron. A transfer to Calgary, Alberta led Bill to an opportunity to start overseas in Kazakhstan and offshore Angola, Africa. Bill’s drive, passion, and integrity not only reflected in his work, but his personal life as well. He was truly a mentor to everyone; his values were his family and living life to the fullest. Bill appreciated the excitement of opportunity; that sense of adventure followed him through life and he made sure that he, and his family, saw what was around every corner. He loved his home, his acreage, his horses, but most of all he loved his family. Bill’s memory will be forever cherished and never forgotten. The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Chinook Hospice for their compassion and supportive care, and to both Dr. Hamilton and Dr. Easaw for their exceptional attentiveness and concern. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 2:00-4:00pm at the Chestermere Landing (Upstairs), 109 East Chestermere Drive, Chestermere. Family requests that in honour of celebrating Bill’s life, please arrive in colourful attire. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation, 620 Colborne Street, Suite 301, London, ON, N6B 3R9 or www.braintumour.ca.
