William "Joey" Joseph Laurin

May 2, 1986 — Oct 10, 2026

Calgary, Alberta

Joey Laurin passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2026, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 40 years.

Joey was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, where he spent his life surrounded by family, friends, and the activities that brought him joy. He was the youngest of three children born to Yvon and Denise, and from an early age, he developed a love for adventure, sports, gaming, and spending time with the people closest to him.

Joey’s passion for biking began when he was just four years old. As a child, he enjoyed riding alongside his sister, Michelle, and as he grew older, he continued to share that passion through mountain biking with his dad, Yvon. He also enjoyed riding BMX at Millennium Park in Calgary, where he could put his skills to the test and perform stunts. Whether on a mountain trail or at the BMX park, biking remained a lifelong passion.

Joey cherished life’s simple pleasures, especially the memories he shared with his older brother, Michael. As boys, they loved to wrestle, and although Michael’s age often gave him the upper hand, Joey never backed down. Their playful battles were part of the bond they shared and the memories they carried from childhood. As Joey grew older, he loved to debate with friends like Billy, Darren, and Dan, while always claiming to be the smartest person in the room. He also enjoyed playing poker with his good buddy, William Mackie, and taking peaceful nature walks with his dad.

He also had a deep love for sports, particularly hockey, and was happy to pass that passion along by teaching his niece, Cheyenne, how to play. He enjoyed spending time with his nephew, Shane, taking long car rides while listening to music and enjoying the scenery.

His adventurous spirit extended beyond biking and hockey when his niece Nicole introduced him to snowboarding at COP in Calgary; a trip he held dear to his heart. He also loved watching Sci-Fi movies with dad and gaming during his down time.

Joey especially cherished his role as an uncle. He made a point of taking his nieces and nephews on annual outings to Calaway Park and the Calgary Stampede, giving them opportunities to have fun, explore, and build memories they will carry with them forever.

Though Joey’s life was far too short, the moments he shared with his family and friends remain part of his lasting legacy.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his father, Yvon Laurin; brother, Michael Hadley; sister, Michelle Hadley (Daniel Love); nieces and nephews, Nichole Millard (Matt Wagner), Shane Hadley, Cheyenne Hadley (Ryder Collins); great-nephew, Elliott; great-niece, Ruby Reed Collins-Hadley; grandfather, Ray Wilson; aunts and uncles, Rhonda (Dave) Cole, Donna (Jim) Ducharme, Maxine Perry (John Wilson), Steven Wilson; and many cousins, extended family, and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Denise Laurin (2011); grandmother, Betty Wilson; uncle, Kevin Wilson.
