It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wendy Savi, after a lengthy illness. Wendy passed away with family by her side, on September 21, at the Arthur Child Cancer Center in Calgary.
Wendy is survived by her husband, Allan, her daughter Alison, siblings Alan (Gina), Gord (Bev), and Sylvia (Dave), as well as nieces and nephews Maya, Olivia, Jennie (Chris), Cody, Kevin (Shayna), Melissa (Scott).
Wendy was predeceased by her parents Voldemar and Gertrude (nee Guderjan).
Wendy was born and raised in Calgary where she attended the University of Calgary receiving a Degree in Education. Wendy was a teacher with the Calgary Board of Education for many years. Teaching was a passion and a joy for Wendy where her enthusiasm for subject areas was infectious with her students.
Most importantly she was a loving mother to her daughter Alison, as well as wife and best friend to Allan. Wendy and Allan shared many experiences together. One of their highlights was when they both taught in the country of Bahrain for two years. This enabled them to visit Oman, and see the great pyramids of Egypt. With Alison, they visited many other places as well, with Amsterdam and Venice being favourites. In Canada, the family enjoyed camping and hiking in the mountains in the summer, and skiing in the winter. At home, Wendy loved crafts. From crocheting and painting to making flowers for the garden made out of dishware.
As per her wishes, Wendy will have a non-traditional, non-religious, natural burial at the Prairie Sky Cemetery (12350 84 St SE, Southeast Calgary, AB) on Friday, September 26, at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to any charity supporting survivors of sexual abuse.
