Wayne Marsh passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on Friday, May 31, 2024 at the age of 79 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Margaret Rose Marsh (“Tweety Bird”); his children, "Darling Daughter" Gwendolyn Margaret Marsh, who resides in Valleyview, Alberta, his "son" William ( Bill) Marsh, and Bill's wife, Donna Marsh of South Carolina, USA; Wanda Hamilton, both his “adopted daughter and ”Darling Granddaughter” and her husband, Glen Hamilton who reside in Edmonton, Alberta; Wayne's three grandchildren, Nicolas, Mark, Paul Marsh and his wife, Sarah Marsh who also reside in Edmonton, Alberta, Will Blaine and his fiance, Sophia Di Saverio who reside in Calgary, Alberta; two great- grandchildren, Carson Walker Marsh, Winston Mayto Stanford Hamilton; Wayne's only surviving cousin, Ann Marsh who resides in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan; along with many nieces and nephews.
Wayne is predeceased by his father, Walter Earl Marsh; mother, Florence Gwendolyn Marsh; mother-in-law, Mary Phillipa Hansen and her husband, George Hansen; his “Big Ooo-fy Sister”, Julia Carlson and her husband, Harold Carlson, and their son Morgan Carlson; Wayne's brother, John Marsh; and his grandparents.
Wayne was born September 11, 1944, in Trochu, Alberta he was raised on his family farm in Great Bend, which is located outside of Delburne, Alberta. He graduated grade 12 with honors and was nominated the class Valedictorian. He completed a college certificate in Automotive and Farm Equipment, and worked with Moore's Engine Professionals for 28 years, before retiring. He married his childhood sweetheart, Margaret Marsh on February 6, 1965, and together they raised their 3 children; Gwendolyn and Bill and their biological granddaughter, Wanda. He loved camping with his grandson Nicholas, and enjoyed playing with his great grandchildren Carson and Winston. He and Margaret traveled the world extensively, during the winters; cruising : the Caribbean, the Panama Canal, the Transpacific (Australia, Hawaii, Tasmania, and the South Pacific Islands), the Transatlantic (Italy and Spain). His most cherished memory was being baptized in the Jordan River in Jerusalem. He also loved classic cars, gardening, star gazing, telling jokes, and offering prayers. He will be remembered as a devoted Christian man, a caring father, a loving husband who always opened the car door for his wife and a good friend, and uncle. Everyone who met him was liked by him. He ministered at the Calgary International Airport for over 5 years, opened his home to anyone in need, led bible studies, and supported several missionaries. He was the “go to person” to provide prayers and blessings at every family function, where he would witness, “Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and no man comes to the Father except through him.” (John 14: 6-7) If you feel inspired by Wayne's Testimony and want to accept Jesus into your life, then please reach out to one of our family members or to the fellowship of Christ.
