Wayne Pyykonen passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the age of 72 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years Liz; sons Wayne Jr (Jackie), Gary Pyykonen and James (Karen); five grandchildren; siblings Linda Ambrose, Jack (Taya) Pyykonen, Bud Pyykonen, Connie (Gordon) Hale and Tammy Sherger; and many more family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Toivo & Florence Pyykonen and brother Richard. Wayne was born and raised in Sault Ste Marie, ON. In his twenties he moved to Calgary which is where he met the love of his life Liz. He enjoyed a long career in the City of Calgary’s Roads department. He loved to work on cars in his garage and listen to old time country music. Wayne’s family will be holding a private family service at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, #200, 325 Manning Road NE, Calgary, AB T2E 2P5. Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family at www.piersons.ca.
