Virginia Platner

Virginia Platner passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the age of 67 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Josie Erfle, David Platner, Harold (Moyra) Platner and Crystal Bassett; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 25 foster children; and many more family and friends. She was predeceased by her son Joseph, daughter Nancy, sister Veronica and parents Portineous & Rosanna Greene. Virginia was born in Hanna, AB and raised in Cardston, AB. She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Paris, France. After returning she received her B.A. from Brigham Young University. And then while raising her family, she went on to receive her Bachelors of Social Work from the University of Calgary and then her Masters of Social Work from the University of Utah. She had a passion for music and was a very gifted pianist and vocalist and taught piano for many years. Virginia lived for her children and grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held for Virginia at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery.
