It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Virginia Mae (Lindberg) Meyer, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us peacefully on August 20, 2024, after a brave battle with cancer. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, on June 19, 1944, Virginia lived a life filled with love, kindness, and lasting connections.
Predeceased by her devoted husband, Norman, Virginia is survived by her cherished children: Todd, Cindi (Troy), Andrea (Dean), and Anthony. Her legacy continues through her adoring 7 grandchildren Denham, Tristan, Ethan, Caden, Dylan, Tate, and Kingston, who brought her immense joy and pride.
For many years while raising her family, Virginia called Medicine Hat home, where she worked at TD Bank for 30 years and forged many wonderful friendships. Her warmth and kindness made her a cherished figure in the community. Eventually, she returned to her home town of Calgary to be closer to her family, embracing every moment spent with her loved ones.
Virginia was a gentle soul with a spirit that could light up a room. She found joy in the simplest pleasures—spending time sewing and crafting, and indulging in thrift shopping adventures with her daughters Cindi and Andrea. Whether she was cheering for the Oilers with her son Anthony or chatting on the phone with Todd, far away family, or friends, Virginia’s kindness and positive energy were a source of comfort to all.
A devoted mother and wife, Virginia poured her heart into her family, always putting them first. She was never quick to say goodbye, preferring instead to savour each moment and create lasting memories. Her generous spirit and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who had the fortune of knowing her.
As we say goodbye to Virginia, we remember her bright smile and unwavering spirit. She taught us the importance of family, friendship, and finding joy in everyday moments. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her love will continue to resonate in our hearts.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, where we will gather to share stories, laughter, and love—just as she would have wanted.
Rest in peace, dear Virginia. Your light will shine on in the hearts of all who loved you.
