Valerie Connie Blondeau

Valerie 'Chickadee' Blondeau (née Horsefall) passed away at Carewest Garrison Green on Thursday March 12, 2026. She was 81 years of age.

Valerie will be missed by her children, John (Norma) Blondeau, Janice (Arnold) Blondeau, Jason Blondeau, Jeffery Blondeau & Harold (Barb) Horsefall; 21 grandchildren, Ronin, Michanta, Tamara, John, Cody, Ayla, Dean, Tara, Jaylene, Jason Dean, Reagan, Rain, Bethany, Justin, Chenda, Jordan Shae, Charlie, Ariston, Reykjavik, Jessinia & Willow; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Alijah, Mckaela, Myles, Brielle, Aries, Amirah, Kairo, Azariah, Aiden, Leo, Sophia, Jeffrey & Sakihitowin; niece, Sylvia along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

She is predeceased by her parents, Adrian and Sophie Horsefall; son, Christian Blondeau; and grandchildren, April, Amber & Jeff Jr. Valerie was the youngest of 11 and she was the last surviving of her siblings.

Valerie was born in Fort Qu'appelle, SK and attended residential school from the ages of five through seventeen. After marrying, she moved to Lethbridge before settling in Calgary in 1976. Valerie had several jobs with her longest term of employment being with Alberta Health Services where she worked as a Sterilization Technician. She retired at the age of 71.

In retirement, Valerie loved to spend time with her family and on occasion tried her luck playing VLTs.

Wake Services will take place at Pierson's Funeral Service (4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Monday March 16, 2026 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Funeral Ceremony will be at the same location, the next day, Tuesday March 17 at 10:00am
