STINN, Sylvan (Syl) Herman, at the age of 91 years was relieved of the joys, sufferings and pressures of this life by God, his Higher Power on April 24, 2026. Sylvan was born on January 5, 1935 at his parent’s farm in Rockyford, Alberta, where he was raised and attended school. After graduation Sylvan married Dorothy Silbernagel. They lived in several places in Alberta while he was employed by CIBC then returned to work the family farm for several years. Sylvan worked with Trizec Office Properties in Calgary as security supervisor until his retirement in 2003. Sylvan was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus.
Beyond his work, Sylvan found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. He loved walking through the zoo, taking in the sights and sounds with a sense of curiosity that never seemed to fade. He was a passionate music lover, building an extensive library that spoke to his appreciation for melody, memory, and expression. Through his hobby of photography, he captured moments both big and small, preserving pieces of life that might otherwise have passed unnoticed.
Sylvan is survived by his six children: Stanley (Michele), Gary (Brenda), Darryl (Connie), Cheryl (Dan Lesyk), Sean (Paula) and Patricia (Joseph Van Bavel), numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Sylvan was predeceased by infant daughter Dorothy Sylvia, his parents Lawrence and Mary, his sister Loreen and her husband Peter Ediger, his granddaughter Brittany Stinn and daughter-in-law Michelle Stinn.
