It is with great sadness that the family of Suzanne Miriam Cooper announce her passing on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the age of 70 years in Calgary, AB.
Suzanne is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Ron Cooper; two children, Rachael (Joey) Duzlemic and their children, Lincoln and Kaden and Breanne (Jordan) Persson and their children, Verona and Maximus all of Calgary; siblings, Graeme (Karen) Hardy of Parksville, BC, Pene (Steve) Kenny of Lantzville, BC and Rob (Kelly) Hardy of Nanaimo, BC along with numerous extended family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Mary Hardy.
Suzanne was born in the beautiful city of Wellington, New Zealand on June 6, 1951. There she enjoyed the lush landscape and their family orchard. When she was 18 she immigrated to Canada with her father soon followed by her mother and siblings. Higher Education was important to Suzanne and she graduated with multiple degrees in Sociology, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology and Social Work all while exploring interests such as cross country skiing, snow shoeing, and color psychology. Suzanne worked for the Alberta Provincial Government as a social worker/contract manager. Suzanne was blessed to return home to her beloved New Zealand and served for eighteen months as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Later, as a social worker for the Alberta government she worked many years and it was there that she met her sweetheart Ron. They married July 21, 1979 in Calgary and raised two daughters. A significant part of Suzanne’s life was her creative endeavors. She was the author of two novels, penned many short stories and read an innumerable number of books. Quilting and mentoring others in the art was a true passion that she shared willingly. Her parents instilled a love and knowledge of all aspects of gardening and preserving of the yields. As a faithful member of the Church she fulfilled multiple service callings with joy and dedication making many friends along the way. Suzanne’s family was everything to her and she was everything to them. Suzanne passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and daughters.
Funeral Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Foothills Stake Center (30 Everstone Blvd SW, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 1:30 p.m.

I was so sorry to hear that Suzanne passed away. I worked with Suzanne for many years in the Community Business Services Calgary unit and Suzanne was an important member of that unit. Suzanne and I had many great conversations about raising children, religion, cars and cancer. Both Suzanne and my wife Sue had survived bouts with the same type of cancer, sadly both of them have left us to early.
My condolences to all of Suzanne’s family.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Suzanne’s passing and extend my condolences to Ron and family. Suzanne and I enjoyed lovely walks together in and around Fish Creek Park. Our walks and talks were filled with stories including those of our years spent in services with the Government of Alberta. Suzanne was such a lovely and caring person…such genuine kindness. Living across the street from each other we were able to share many spontaneous moments. I will miss her.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences at the passing of beautiful Suzanne. I got to know Suzanne through the love, friendship, service and kindness she extended to my elderly mother, and all the visits she made to ease her loneliness. This allowed me the great pleasure to get to know Suzanne – and consider her a friend. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Suzanne. I have many fond memories of Suzanne. Our daughters, Rachael and Jennifer used to play together when we lived in Sundance. Their friendship grew over the years.
We both shared the love of gardening. I remember many walks through Suzanne’s garden and she loved to tell every detail of all the plants.
She was a kind, caring person who never hesitated to share her love and testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The world was a much better place with Suzanne a part of it! What an impact she has made on so many lives! I met this fine couple just after they were married and over many years have seen their progress with 2 lovely daughters and all the projects taken on by this energetic and talented friend. How well I remember “Cooperridge Homes” and the care and detail that Suzanne put into building them and providing a top quality product for the people to whom I had the privilege of selling them.
When my husband was diagnosed with cancer, miraculously a gorgeous quilt, handmade with love, arrived to comfort us- a gift to forever cherish.
Suzanne’s departing is such a loss to you Ron, Rachael and Breanne and families, and to all of us who were blessed to be her friends.
