Stanley Franklin David Spencer

On Wednesday, July 31, 2024, Mr. Stanley Spencer of Calgary, Alberta, unexpectedly passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital at the age of 73 years.

It is a time to honour and celebrate the life of Stanley, who touched the hearts of everyone with his kindness, humour, and making people smile and laugh. Stanley graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Education degree. He was a dedicated elementary school teacher on Siksika Nation for over twenty years. Later in life, Stanley became a caregiver for Brad for fifteen years. Brad and Stanley had a very special bond between each other. One of Stanley's greatest joys was spending time with all his family. He always cared about bringing joy to people by making them smile and laugh. Stanley loved musicals, watching movies, singing, dancing, and acting. He also was a very dedicated bingo player. Stanley traveled to Scotland, and he loved to go to Las Vegas to gamble his money away.

Stanley leaves to mourn his loss, and is survived by his brother, Larry Spencer and his wife Glayne; nieces Tiana, Stephanie; nephews Jaden, Jamal, Dylan and his wife Tammy; great-nephews Dustin, Colby; great-nieces Adella Ayla; and numerous other nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Stanley also leaves behind his very best friend of twenty one years, Jack Lachance. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to his nephew and caregiver, Brian Pelletier.

Stanley was predeceased by his mother Katherine Spencer (nee Marsette); father Samuel Spencer (Owlchild); brother Thomas Charles Spencer (known as Sonny); and sisters Lorna and her husband Peter Pelletier, Dorothy Anderson and her husband Don Clark, and Alice Spencer. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Pierson's Funeral Service Ltd., 4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary, Alberta with Reverend Father Francis Quoc Anh Phu, O.P. officiating. Cremation has taken place at the Foothills Crematorium. Interment of Stanley's urn will follow in the Garden of the Good Shepherd, Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
