Stanley Kruk

Mr. Stanislaw Kruk was born on March 6, 1930, in Podkonce, county of Ilsa in Poland, in a family of 5 other siblings. He went to technical high school in Radom, Poland, and later to the School of Architecture and Technology, later graduating from the University of Gdansk as a Master of Engineering and Architecture. Stanley worked as director and assistant professor at the University of Gdansk before moving to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and later, Montreal, Quebec; where he worked as an architect and designer from 1965 –1976.

His permanent city of residence was Calgary from 1976; where he worked as an architect and draftsman. Stan was a passionate photographer. His hobby as a photographer allowed him to post award-winning photographs in magazines and travel across Africa, the USA, Canada, and Europe. He was an avid member of the Foothills Camera Club in Calgary, where he won dozens of awards and medals for his photography. Stanley loved the mountains as well as hiking and cross-country skiing. He was always full of life, positivity, and never-ending creativity. He will be dearly missed by his family and close friends.

Stanley is survived by his daughter, Caroline (Chris) Zubel of Calgary, Alberta; granddaughters, Hannah Zubel and Olivia Zubel; sisters in Poland, Stanistawa Kruk and Krystyna Kruk; niece, Krystyna Dalecka of Gizycko, Poland. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters in Poland, Tadeusz Kruk, Edward Kruk, and Maria Kruk.
