Sky Caroline Powderface

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of Sky Caroline Powderface on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at the age of 21 years.  

Sky was born in Calgary and received her education at Morley Community School.  She worked as a cashier where she made many friends.  She had a wonderful sense of humour with a contagious laugh.  Sky was an avid artist and enjoyed making pieces of art she shared with her family.  A real athlete, Sky enjoyed playing hockey and volleyball.  She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing Pow Wow songs and her personal favourite music.  After becoming a mother to her only son Kaizen, she enjoyed taking care of him, spending time with him, and treasuring every moment she had with him.  We will miss Sky with her beautiful personality.

Sky is survived by her son Kaizen;  her father Charles Powderface Jr.; a special Auntie Jackie, who was like a second mother to Sky;  her siblings Charlize, Isyss (Jaycee), Twisha and Crazy Horse;  nieces Makaiya and Kova;  uncles Daniel Wildman, Garrett Benjamin, Donald Benjamin, Frank Powderface Jr., Brett Benjamin and Jace Baptiste; aunties Teresalyn Benjamin, Laverne Benjamin, Shelly Benjamin, Sharon Benjamin, Tinena Benjamin, Samantha Benjamin, Wyo Powderface, Holly Holloway, Britney Elkins, Renee Shade, Vonnie Wesley and Lynel (Derrick) Benjamin;  grandmothers Mina Powderface, Evangeline Benjamin and Lorianne Powderface;  grandfathers Ollie Benjamin (Lainey), Elliott Benjamin (Maureen) and Lawrence Crawler;  adopted mother Geri Clarke and her family;  adopted sister Aprilvonna Poucette and her daughter Shylynn Rowan;  and a larger extended family too numerous too mention.  The family wishes to apologize to anyone we may have missed.

Sky was predeceased by her mother Iliena Wildman;  grandfather Charles Powderface Sr;  grandparents Bert and Sarah Wildman;  grandmothers Florence Benjamin and Velma Powderface (Gerald);  cousins Mousee, Angel and Vance;  great-grandfather Lawrence Dixon;  and numerous relatives.

Wake Services will be held at the residence of Mina Powderface on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 and Thursday, June 6, 2024.  Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Morley Gymnasium, Mînî Thnî, Alberta.  Graveside and interment to follow at Chiniki Cemetery, Mînî Thnî, Alberta.  A feast will follow at Mina Powderface's residence.
