Shirley Mabel Hindson
August 29, 1936 — October 19, 2021
On the evening of Tuesday, October 19, 2021 Shirley Mabel Hindson leaped into the arms of God ending an 85 year journey as a mother, grandmother, friend, volunteer and much more. Her final years were spent joyfully with Alzheimer’s, while at the same time it ended her life.
Shirley led an inspired life as a writer, dancer, and walking enthusiast. She was a published writer and regular contributor to the Whitehorse Star, writing about the longtime women of the North. She walked a full marathon to raise money for diabetes, a condition her son had since he was eight years old. Shirley worked 21 years for the Department of National Defence while raising three children and took lots of adventures around Canada and the world.
Shirley is lovingly and proudly remembered by her loving children Sandra, Eric, Scott, and her grandchildren Ryan and Bria. She will be deeply missed by all.
