Sheldon Vern Barton

Sheldon Vern Barton passed away peacefully on Monday July 5, 2021. He had celebrated his 90
th
birthday weeks earlier surrounded by his loving family.
Sheldon grew up in Stirling, AB, one of six children. He later moved to Calgary, where he found the love of his life, Trudy, a student nurse, and the couple later married and resided 64 years together in Cambrian Heights.
He loved camping, boating and lake vacations. He was an avid water skier, who eagerly shared the thrill of gliding on water with family and friends. As the owner of a sporting goods store, he took great pleasure helping customers fulfill their own leisure dreams.
Sheldon greeted each day with a smile and found satisfaction in the simple pleasures of life. Children and dogs longed to be near him. He especially loved being a grandfather and took his granddaughters on many adventures over the years.
He loved to travel and always looked forward to the next cruise and the new friendships it would bring.
He is survived by his loving wife Trudy; children Janice (Wayne), Brent, Bradley (Laurel), Jennifer; grandchildren Adrienne (Alvaro), Jenaye, Paige (Wes), Brittany (Devon); great-grandchildren William and Emily; and sisters Guila and Myrna and numerous extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sheldon’s name to the charity of your choice. A Celebration of Sheldon’s Life will be held Monday July 12, 2021 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 5927 Tipton Road NW in Calgary, AB.
