Sharon Anne Stratton
April 5, 1943 — February 5, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, Sharon Anne Stratton, on Friday, February 5, 2021 at the age of 77 years.
Sharon was born April 5, 1943 and raised in Calgary by her parents Mary and Mike Kreba, together with her six siblings, Jerry, Joyce, Larry, Lois, Rodney and Barb. She met our father, Douglas Ralph Stratton and was married in 1958. They had two children, Douglas Michael Alexander Stratton and Shelley Mary Lynne Stratton. They moved as a family and lived in Cranbrook, Winnipeg and Medicine Hat. Later in life, Sharon and Douglas lived on Vancouver Island as retirees in Victoria, Port Alberni and Bamfield.
In 1994, Sharon lost her husband tragically to a car accident. She then moved back to Calgary to be near family. A number of years later, Sharon met Edward Hubert, with whom she lived until his death in 2018.
Sharon was a kind and loving mother who always put her children first. She always supported and encouraged us in every way imaginable.
Sharon loved doing all kinds of crafts. Her most recent passion was creating jewelry. She also enjoyed going on “treasure hunts†in garage sales, flea markets, antique stores and craft shows. She was a fun loving person and spent many hours early in life dressing family members up for Halloween. Mom loved her home and garden. During the summer months, she enjoyed gardening and sitting in the back porch to admire her plantings and watch as birds came to the bird bath. Sharon loved dogs and had many over the years. Her last canine companion was Hubbie, an energetic Bichon Shitzu.
Mom is survived by her loving children Douglas and Shelley; sisters Barbara and Joyce; and by her brother Jerry. She was able to stay in her home until nearly the end, with her children by her side. In the last weeks of her life she was under the care of Intercare Chinook Hospice.

A graveside will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2021 in the Garden of Heritage at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Calgary, Alberta.
