On Sunday, January 4, 2026 Shannon Robert Nenka of Mountain View County, formerly of Calgary, Alberta, passed away at the age of 50 years.

Shannon, a beloved son, brother, friend, and colleague, was born on Wednesday, April 23, 1975, in Calgary, Alberta. He passed away leaving behind cherished memories and a profound impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Shannon's journey began in Calgary, where he completed his education at Forest Lawn High School, earning an advanced diploma. His work ethic was evident early on as he spent three years as a painter before pursuing further education at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). There, he excelled in his studies, graduating near the top of his class with a diploma in telecommunications.

Following his graduation, Shannon embarked on a successful career with Telus, dedicating 21 years to the company. He was known not only for his professionalism but for the kindness and camaraderie he shared with his fellow employees. Shannon made the decision to retire at the young age of 45, a testament to his commitment and passion for his work.

Outside of his professional life, Shannon had a deep love for the great outdoors. An avid traveler and camper, he cherished exploring nature's beauty, frequently riding his motorbike through scenic landscapes. Snowboarding brought him joy during the winter months, and he found exhilaration in riding his electric longboard. His adventurous spirit was complemented by his generous heart; Shannon was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need and remained profoundly grateful to anyone who showed him kindness.

Shannon Robert Nenka leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and a zest for life that will be fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched. His spirit will continue to inspire and encourage those who remember him to embrace adventure, cultivate friendships, and show compassion to others.

Shannon is survived by his brother Erran Nenka of Calgary, Alberta; sister Odette Ducharme of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia; stepbrother Raphael Charest of Drumheller, Alberta; and nieces Stephanie Cragg and Nicole Cragg, both of Coquitlam, British Columbia. He is predeceased by his parents Michelle Cowley and Bob Nenka.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Shannon commencing at 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at Pierson's Funeral Service Ltd., 4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary, Alberta. Cremation has taken place at the Foothills Crematorium.
