Sandra Lee Smith

Sandra Smith passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the Rockyview Hospital at the age of 76 years. Sandra was predeceased by her parents Leroy and Ardis Smith, and a brother Ralph Smith. Sandra will be dearly missed by her sister Joan Smith of BC; her brother Bruce Smith (Gwen) of Nova Scotia; niece Jennifer; and nephews Andrew, Stefan and Adam.

Sandra was born and raised in Edmonton and after graduating from High School attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She completed her Masters in Psychology at BYU and then returned to Canada, settling in Calgary, where she completed a PhD in Psychology at the University of Calgary. Sandra then joined Alberta Health Services where she began her dedicated career in Child and Family Therapy. In spite of many significant health challenges, Sandra lived a full, happy and productive life without complaining of her circumstances. She had a gift of being a wonderful listener and was the keeper of many confidences. Sandra spent much of her life researching genealogy, completing significant amounts of family history. She had a profound love of Jesus Christ and had a love of His gospel. Sandra lived an exemplary life and was a great example to everyone who knew her.

A Funeral Service will be held for Sandra at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – 17 Ave SW Stake Centre (2021 – 17 Avenue SW, Calgary) on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 11:00 am. Cremation will follow. Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family at www.piersons.ca.
