Ruth Ivy Timms (Nee Gregson)

February 15, 1925 — July 15, 2019

Ruth Timms passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019 at the age of 94 years. Born in Bellevue, Alberta, on February 15, 1925, she was the eldest of six children born to Harold and Ivy Gregson. Ruth is survived by her three children: David (Bobbi) Timms; Elizabeth (Steven) Grossick and Greg (Penny) Timms; 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and three siblings. Ruth met Bill (“Tim”) Timms in 1950 – a storybook romance; he asked her to marry him on their first date. They had wonderful years in Edmonton, Kitimat, Vernon and Calgary. Ruths greatest joys in life were being a wife, mother and homemaker. She was a gracious woman who embodied courage, beauty and refinement; she read extensively and had a keen and inquisitive mind. She could converse on a spectrum of topics. Our beloved mother was a prayerful woman of great faith, who led by example. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities of responsibility in church and the community. We will miss our mother but are grateful she is released from the pain and suffering she endured with dignity. She often said, “This enduring to the end isnt much fun, but Ill keep trying”. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Millrise Seniors Village who cared for her with tenderness and respect. A Funeral Service will be held for Ruth at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Parkland Chapel (14540 Parkland Blvd. SE, Calgary) on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at 2:00 pm.
