Roy (Rommert) Jorritsma
September 22, 1951 — December 26, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Roy (Rommert) Jorritsma announces his passing on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the age of 67 years. Roy is survived by his daughters Twila-Dawn Ann Jorritsma and Jocelyn Denise Sylvia Jorritsma; his grandson Asher Felix Arcand; his sister Sylvia (Barry) Mantz; his brother John (Sharon) Jorritsma; his nieces Jamie Smith and Laura Jorritsma; and his nephew Scott Mantiz, all of Calgary; he was pre-deceased by his parents Annie and Johan Jorritsma.
Roy was a kind hearted man whose passions ranged from peanut butter and chocolate pudding to the country music from the ’50’s and ’60’s to his beloved family and friends. He was also a jack of all trades whether it was an electrician, custodian, genealogist, or disc jockey, Roy could do whatever he put his heart into. As a father and grandfather, Roy was extraordinary, his daughters and grandson have such fund memories of sleepovers, swimming at Sikome Lake, trips to Heritage Park, and drives to Moraine Lake to mention a few. He was an incredible man and will be missed by all those who had the absolute pleasure of knowing him.
A Funeral Service will be held for Roy at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Heritage Chapel (935 Heritage Drive SW, Calgary) on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 1:00 pm. Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family at www.piersons.ca.
