Roy Sudyn passed away on Wednesday January 6, 2021 at the age of 91 years.
Roy is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 71 years, Eileen; his children, Linda (Alex) Howie, Garnet (Marilyn) Sudyn & Tammy (Sean) Bates; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.
Roy was born in Tilley, MB before moving to Kenora, ON. There he met and married Eileen and they began their family. Roy’s mother, Kay was of Ukrainian heritage and Roy and Eileen passed that onto their children. The Sudyn family learned and performed traditional Ukrainian Dance. They lived in Kenora until 1973 when they moved to Calgary.
Roy worked for many years with CP Rail then later on worked as a tailor. He had an interest in textile and had a good eye for design. He loved to cross stitch, crochet and knit. His grandchildren were often the recipients of his beautiful hand made blankets made with love.
Roy was so outgoing and charismatic. He had the most positive outlook on life, always happy and cheerful with a great sense of humour. He loved to be the center of attention.
Roy was a long time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His positive energy will be missed by many.
