Rosalie Theresa Doherty

Rose Doherty passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the age of 93 years.

She is survived by her children, Deb, Patricia, Margo all of Calgary & James (Darryl) of Prague, Czech Republic; three grandchildren, Mellisa in Orillia, James in Edmonton & Donald in Calgary; nine great-grandchildren; and siblings, Vicki of Regina, Kay from BC, and Anne of Medicine Hat. She is predeceased by her husband of 56 years at the time of his passing, Donald; son, Kenneth; and siblings, Barbara, Andy, Hellen, Betty, Matt & Marian.

Rose was born in Chamberlain, SK to a farming family. After moving to Calgary as a young adult, she studied nursing at the Calgary General Hospital. She was introduced to Donald on a blind date while she was working in Carmangay.

Rose loved to travel - an activity she continued until she was well into her 80s. She enjoyed going on cruises where she liked to dress up and dine as a main activity of her travels. On her many adventures, she walked on the Great Wall of China, strode down the Ginza in Tokyo and whale watched in Alaska to name just a few. At home when she wasn't traveling, Rose worked on her garden. Her flowers were her pride and joy. She also loved wolves and her fur babies to whom she gave the best care. Rose was a favorite aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by many.

The Doherty family wish to thank the staff of Unit 73 at the Rockyview General Hospital and Dr. Simmons for the wonderful care they provided to Rose.

At Rose's request, there will be no formal funeral ceremony. The Doherty family will be holding a private memorial service at a later date.
