It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roberta “Robbi” Kathleen Allison Marquardt in Calgary on July 15, 2024.
Robbi was born at Drumheller, Alberta on November 4, 1963, second child of Dick and Judy Marquardt. Robbi grew up in Coleman, Alberta where she was a talented athlete, including competing in gymnastics and working as a lifeguard while a teenager. She enjoyed playing the piano at home and the clarinet in the Crowsnest Consolidated High School concert band, which travelled to Rome to perform in a concert and competition. Her love of music and dancing, especially the two-step, continued throughout her life. One of her favourite songs was “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”
Robbi had successful careers as a medical laboratory technologist, realtor and later as a caregiver for a senior citizen.
She enjoyed travelling to Italy, Greece, Mexico, Trinidad, and many Canadian provinces and U.S. states, including Hawaii. Robbi also enjoyed spending time in nature and loved visiting the Calgary Zoo often, taking particular pleasure in seeing the hippos, red pandas and baby gorillas. Other favourite places in Calgary were Bowness Park, Glenmore Park, Sandy Beach and Edworthy Park. She loved flowers, especially yellow hibiscus.
Robbi is survived by her father, Dick Marquardt, sister Randi (Al) Berting, and brother Rik. Robbi was predeceased by her mother Judy Marquardt (nee Chambers), grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
A private family ceremony was held to place Robbi’s ashes near the scenic hoodoos in Drumheller, where ashes of her mother and grandparents Elsie and Gordon Chambers were also scattered.
