Richard Michael Wegemer

With deep saddness we announce that Richard Michael Wegemer passed away suddenly at Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, Alberta on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at the age of 48 years.

Richard was born and raised in Ontario, where he grew up alongside his twin brother, William, and his sister, Heather. He was a sweet and caring man, though he could certainly be a little rough around the edges. Richard had a way about him that was uniquely his own, and those who knew him best understood that beneath his tough exterior was a kind, generous, and deeply caring heart.

Richard loved his work as a delivery driver at Burnbrae Farms. For him, it was more than simply a way to make a living—it was something he genuinely enjoyed and an important part of who he was. He also had a love for adventure and the open road. Richard loved riding his Harley-Davidson, and selling it broke his heart. He enjoyed sailing and was always looking forward to his next adventure. He was even planning a scuba-diving trip for February 2027, a testament to his excitement for life and all the experiences still ahead of him.

Richard had a love for good food, especially chicken parmesan, and he made a mean Alfredo sauce. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching movies and playing video games. He also inherited his father's wonderful sense of humour, which was an important part of his personality. Richard was kind, loyal, generous to a fault, and caring. When he considered someone a friend, that friendship truly meant something to him. He was deeply loyal to the people he loved and would always be there for those who mattered to him.

Richard will be lovingly remembered by his father, Michael (Terry) Wegemer of Mississauga, Ontario; twin brother, William Wegemer of Ajax, Ontario; sister, Heather Wegemer of Oshawa, Ontario; as well as the DiAntonio, Sell, and Lacey families; and best friend Shaun Bohnet. He was predeceased by his mother, Diane Lacey (née Adams).

Richard leaves behind memories that will not fade—the laughter, the adventures, the stories, the stubbornness, the kindness, and all the little things that made him who he was.
