Rachel Martha Closs

Rachel Closs passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022 at the age of 97 years.

Rachel was born in Strathmore, AB to Herbert and Louisa McLauchlin. She is survived by her sons, Kerry (Marilyn) & Darcy; granddaughter, Kristy (Winston) Cormier-Smith; two great- grandchildren, Alexis & Isla. Rachel was one of seven children and the last surviving of the McLauchlin children. She is predeceased be her siblings, Joseph, Ella, Eveline, Adela, Rose and brother, Allan who passed away in infancy.

Rachel was very sociable and loved to chat and visit. She had such a charming personality that it made her so memorable to those who have met her. She was well read due to the fact that she was able to read books so quickly – often in one sitting. Rachel worked as a restaurant manager and for many years at the Bay.

Visitation will be held for Rachel at Pierson’s Funeral Service (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Tuesday August 23 at 1:00pm with Graveside to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219 – 4 Street NW, Calgary)
