Pieter Keus passed away on June 10, 2013 at the age of 88 years. Pieter will be dearly missed by his wife Laura Keus; two children and one stepson Manja Rotzien (Garry), Peter Keus (Shirley) and Craig Dmetrichuk (Shelley); six grandchildren Darren Rotzien (Laura), Staci Baustad (Colin), Peter Vinje (Erin), Nancy, Jennifer and Adam Dmetrichuk; five great-grandchildren Melissa, Brennen, Brianna, Ashley and Brayden; 4 brothers and sisters; and many other relatives and friends. Pieter was predeceased by his first wife Anne Sophia Keus in 1972, a daughter Linda Bodin in 2013 and a sister Cora. Pieter was born and raised in Scheveningen, Holland and trained as a welder. During World War II he worked in forced labour in Germany. In 1952 he immigrated to Calgary with his young family, where he continued to work as a welder. In 1975, he started his own business Eastside Ornamental, which his son Peter continues to operate. In 1972 Pieter married Laura. Pieter loved to camp and fish and always kept himself busy with various projects, yard work, cleaning and tiding. We will miss his laughter, jokes and opinions on any subject. A Memorial Service will be held at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel, 4121 – 17 Avenue SE on Sunday, June 16 at 2:00 pm.
