Cairns, Patricia Mae October 11, 1931 – April 24, 2013

Patricia Cairns passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the age of 81 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Wally (Corrine) Cairns of St. George, UT, Patrick (Wendy) Cairns of Calgary, AB, Heather (Ian) Laurie of Medicine Hat, AB, David (Wendy) Cairns of Calgary, AB, Kelly (Lee) Slade of Ephrata, WA and Shannon (Troy) Zemp of Drayton Valley, AB; two foster children Buddy and Diane; 24 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and many more family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband A. Walter Cairns, parents Rennie and Helena Dunbar and brothers Rennie and Robert Dunbar. Patricia was born and raised in Carmen, MB and then met and married the love of her life, Walter, in Winnipeg. After they were married they lived in a number of different places throughout the years, including Calgary, AB, Princeton, BC, Ernfold, SK, Abbotsford, BC, Invermere, BC and Drayton Valley, AB. Patricia was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission for the church. She loved painting, drawing, knitting, sewing, baking, dancing, serving in her church and eating chocolate. Her greatest joy was raising her six children and spending time with all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Symphony Senior Living – Evergreen for their kindness and caring for Patricia. Their care was above and beyond expectations and it did not go unnoticed. A Visitation for Patricia will be held at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 – 17 Avenue SE) on Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will then be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Sundance Chapel (100 Sunpark Drive SE, Calgary) on Monday, April 29, 2013 at 10:00 am with interment to follow at Queens Park Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Canada, www.alzheimer.ca.
