Patricia Kirkham
June 6, 1941 — October 7, 2016
Patricia Kirkham passed away peacefully on Friday, October 7, 2016 at the age of 75 years in Calgary, Alberta. Patricia will be lovingly remembered by her son Douglas and daughter Sheila; and her siblings Neil, John, Lottie, Paul, Robert, Laura, and Sondra; sister in law Sally; and their extended families.
Patricia was predeceased by her husband Roger; her parents Morgan and Helen Lund; and her brothers Carl and Alan.
Patricia was gifted with a heart to care for people. Her heart for caring was evident through her 30 years of service to the Alberta Health Services, where she worked as a Unit Clerk in the Labor & Delivery Ward at Rocky View Hospital. Patricia was also a Founding member of Clubhouse, now known as Potential Place, a place where people with a mental illness are able to lead productive and rewarding lives. In 2011 Patricia received an award recognizing 30 years of service for her devotion to this cause.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Doctors, Nurses, Caregivers and those who supported them from the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Foothills Medical Centre, Rocky View Hospital, and the Southwood Hospice.
A Funeral Service will be held for Patricia at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Willow Park Chapel (940 Acadia Drive SE, Calgary) on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 10:00 am with a public viewing prior to the service in the Relief Society Room at 9:00 am. A graveside service will follow the reception in Raymond, AB.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Potential Place (www.potentialplace.org) would be appreciated by the family to continue the work that Patricia helped found here in Calgary, AB. Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family at www.piersons.ca.
