LABRECQUE, Patricia Elizabeth May 3, 1930 – Lacombe, AB Oct 3, 2014 Calgary AB
Patricia Labrecque passed away peacefully on Friday October 3, 2014 at her home in the Beverly Centre in Calgary with family members by her side. She was born in Lacombe, Alberta on May 3, 1930 and as a child, moved around rural Alberta, eventually settling down in Edmonton where she entered the University of Alberta in 1950. Patricia graduated from the University in of Alberta in 1954 with a degree in Pharmacy. She continued to actively keep her pharmacy license for over 50 years. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and was an active member of the University Women’s Club.
Pat loved to socialize and was an avid bridge player. She loved to swim and was in a curling league for many years. She was a member of the Oil Wives of Calgary and also an active presence in the South YMCA and St. Gerard’s Parish. She loved to travel with her family, keep abreast of all current events and always kept up to date on the newest drugs and medicines that came to market. She was an avid reader and enjoyed completing the New York Times crossword puzzle every week.
Pat is predeceased by her loving husband John E Labrecque (April 3, 1987) – Married April 11, 1955; and her parents Tom and Grace Kelly of Calgary.
She is survived by her three sons and two daughters: Michael Labrecque ( Vivian ), Tim Labrecque ( Dawn ), John Labrecque ( Jeanette ), Jae Valentine ( Bill ) and Colleen Amundson ( Dave ) and blessed with five grandchildren: Anna, Max, Samantha, Ashlynn and Parker Grace. She is also survived by her brother Don Kelly ( Betty ) of Summerland BC.
We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff and caregivers at the Beverly Centre. With a special heartfelt thank you to Cornie St. Hiliare. Her friendship and dedication to our mother was unyielding.
Prayers will be held at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Dr. SW ) on Wednesday October 8, 2014 at 7:00 pm.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at St Gerard’s Catholic Church on Thursday October 9, 2014 at 1:00 pm.
Flowers are thoughtfully declined. Those who so wish may make memorial donations to the charities of their choice.
