Norman Robert Slimmon was born October 22, 1927 in Stoughton, Saskatchewan.
Norman is survived by his son Donald Edward Slimmon (Marie), Daughter Geraldine May Gerl (Allan); Grandsons Les Slimmon (Donna), Norman Warriner, Andy and Darcy Gerl; Granddaughters Tanya and Shantelle and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Norman was predeceased by a daughter Rosemary and grandsons Mike Slimmon and very recently Cory Warriner and his brothers' Royden and John, sisters Loretta and Ruby.
Saskatchewan became well known to Norman and the family since moving from Stoughton to live in Biggar. After his father passed when Norman was 2, his mother remarried, giving him four siblings of which he is the last surviving.
Norman married his wife, Eileen Harper on September 23, 1949 in Filmore and farmed in Heward until moving to Regina, Sasktchewan. Having secured a job with CP railway, this meant many moves throughout the province. After 35 years, he quit the railway to work at Crown Lumber until he retired in 2005. Both enjoyed their retirement in Vernon, BC, however, they made many trips to visit family in Saskatchewan. Norman and Eileen celebrated 68 years of marriage before her passing on September 12, 2017.
After Eileen's passing, Norman's final years were spent partly in Oliver, BC with his son Donald, then in 2019 he moved to daughter Geraldine in Calgary, Alberta. Norman was a caring gentleman who rarely complained, was helpful to many and will truly be missed. He took pleasure as an enthusiastic fan of sports such as baseball, football and hockey. He was also an avid member of Kingdom Hall for 60 years. His presence will be sadly missed. Rest in Peace.
Norman will be laid to rest at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Vernon, BC.
