Nick Topolnitsky
August 10, 1933 — June 17, 2020
Nick Topolnitsky passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the age of 86 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years Elizabeth “Liz”; brothers Bill (Kay) Topolnitsky and Andy (Irene) Topolnitsky, both of Edmonton, AB; sister Victoria (John) Zane, of Rock Creek, BC; all of Liz’s brothers and sisters; and many more family and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Ted (Nancy) Topolnitsky.
Nick was born on the family farm in Wostok, AB. He moved to Edmonton and began working with the United Grain Growers. He met and married the love of his life Liz. His work took them to Calgary in 1969. When Nick retired from the UGG, at 44 years of service he was the most tenured employee. Nick was an avid curler and with Liz enjoyed traveling, camping, and volunteering with the Church. Thank you to the Doctor’s and nurses of Unit 32 at the Foothills Hospital for their loving care.
A Funeral Service will be held for Nick at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 1:00 pm with visitation prior at 12:00 pm. To join the service from home go to zoom.us, click on join a meeting and enter the meeting number 829 7014 6194. Interment will follow the service at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens (24223 Township Rd 242, Calgary). If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (www.heartandstroke.ca/donate).
