It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Michael David Edwards on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the age of 31 years.
Born and raised in Calgary, Michael was a one-of-a-kind person whose presence could light up a room. He was truly the life of the party—funny, outgoing, energetic, and always ready with a joke or a story. His nickname, “Kermit,” became a fitting and beloved part of who he was, and those who knew him will forever smile when they hear it.
Michael loved his family and friends deeply. The people in his life meant everything to him. He had a way of making people feel welcome and creating friendships that lasted. Whether spending time with family, hanging out with friends, or simply enjoying a good conversation, Michael brought his own special energy and personality wherever he went. Michael had a natural talent and passion for building bikes. Music was another important part of Michael’s life. He loved listening to music and enjoyed the way it could bring people together. Michael was also a true animal lover. He had a soft spot for animals and showed them the same warmth and affection that he gave to the people around him. Thirty-one years was far too short a life, and there were undoubtedly many more adventures, laughs, friendships, and memories still waiting to be made.
Michael will be remembered for his big personality, great sense of humour, infectious laughter, love of music, passion for bikes, love of animals, and the countless friendships he made along the way. Most of all, he will be remembered for the love he had for his family and friends.
Michael will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Crystal Schnurer; brother, Cory Edwards; extended family Donna Harbison, Debbie Mason, Tina Clarke, and Daphne Reid. He was predeceased by his grandma Brenda Kennedy, grandpa Don Edwards, and cousin Davina Clarke.
Rest peacefully, Michael. You were deeply loved, and you will be missed more than words can say.
