Michael Paul Morris

On Dec 6, 2023, Mike Morris of Calgary, AB suddenly passed away at home. at the age of 73 years.
Born in San Diego on February 7th, 1950; Mike and his family moved back to Vancouver, BC when he was a wee babe. There, he met the love of his life; Tosh. They became a couple in 1967 and married in 1975. In 1979, Mike and Tosh moved to Calgary, AB where they raised their children, Kim and Billy. Their family would continue to grow in Calgary, AB. First, when Kim married their son-in-law Andy, and later with the addition of grandsons, Alex and Christopher. The entire family stayed connected in Calgary, AB and would share every holiday, accomplishment, and superhero movie viewing together.
A soft-spoken man, Mike could always be counted on to provide help without expectation of reciprocation. However, behind that soft-spoken demeanor was an impish side that made him beloved by his children, grandchildren, and the hundreds of other kids he cared for while volunteering for Scouts Canada for years after Billy had finished with the program (all the way until his first grandchild was a part of his Beaver Colony).
Mike worked the summers of his youth for the Canadian National Railroad; leading to many crazy stories and his career path in Rail Logistics. He retired early to embark on the next set of adventures with Tosh, taking them from Machu Picchu to Stonehenge to the Great Pyramids, and all the seas in between, that Holland America would traverse.
Above all else, Mike Morris was a fiercely dedicated family man who adored his wife and was there whenever they needed him. Their loss, while immeasurable, is matched by the certainty they have that their husband, father, grandfather, truly loved and supported them, and the memory of that shall provide much needed comfort in the days, weeks, and years to come.
Mike is survived by his wife of 48 years, Tosh; children, Kim (Andy) Sayers and Billy Morris; grandsons, Alex and Christopher Sayers; his sister, Dilys (Al) Bodnar; brother, Bryan (Anne Black) Morris; and many loving in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Ellen Morris and father, Thomas William Morris.
A Celebration of Life for Mike will be held at Pierson’s Funeral Service (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Saturday, December 16, 2023 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm.
