Mary Lynn Smart (nee Patton)

Mary Lynn will be sadly missed by her family including her children Bill, David (Linda), and Shelley Kinley; grandchildren Ashley, Matthew (Kayla), Devin (Nicole), Zac (Greer), Mason (Lani), Torin (Ryan), Regan (Emily); honorary grandchildren Braden (Sydney), Avery (Rob); great-grandchildren Tyson, Patrick, Cameron, Everett, William, Rylan, Cohen, Levee, Henderson, Jackson, Leyton, and Brielle.

Mary Lynn was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ernie Smart, and her favourite son-in-law, Dave Kinley

Mary Lynn was born in Calgary, the youngest of three children. She was a health care helper, secretary, and homemaker. Along with her husband Ernie, they enjoyed bicycling, traveling to Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and the East Coast. They loved walking in Fish Creek Park, especially when their grandchildren joined them there for ice cream. Together, Mary Lynn and Ernie attended countless sporting events, dance recitals, graduations, and festivities for their grandchildren.

Mary Lynn lived with an appreciation for the simple things. The view from her living room window, sitting in the yard under the shade of the apple trees, going for a walk, and seeing the mountains.

Ernie was the love of her life. After his passing in 2016, Mary Lynn learned how to live alone in their family home comfortably until her passing. She lived quietly, but joyfully. She will be dearly missed.

Now in God’s hands, Forever in our hearts.

Family celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary). Graveside service will follow at Queen's Park Cemetery (3219 - 4 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta).
