Douglas, Mary Jane (“MJ”) (Nee Packard) April 7, 1943 – October 27, 2017
It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Jane (“MJ”) Douglas announces her passing on Friday, October 27, 2017, in Calgary at the age of 74 years. MJ is survived by the love of her life, Brian; her beloved pal Patch; her daughters Colleen (Jim) and Teena (Randy); her son Derek (Toby); her grandchildren Ryan, Megan, Corey, Sam, Rebecca, Cheyenne, Xavian, and Kaysen; and her great grandson Maxxon. MJ is predeceased by her father William (Bill) Packard; her mother Alice Viola Packard; sisters Corinne, Lorraine, Margaret and Darla; and brothers Jim and Munroe. What else can one say about MJ other than she was an incredible woman. She loved her family and friends, her Blue Jays, her cribbage, and her bingo. MJ’s cooking kept people wanting for more whether it be her hamburger stew, her famous Christmas nuts and bolts, her butter tarts, or her pickled beets. She was a ball of energy, a spit fire if you will, who touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all.
A Funeral Service will be held for MJ at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Monday, November 6, 2017 at 11:00 am. As a special request from the family, they ask that all who wish to attend wear Blue Jays attire or something blue. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Salvation Army Agape Hospice in MJ’s name.
