Marjorie Ellen Brost

March 28, 1931 — February 2, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and sister, Marjorie Ellen Brost on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at the age of 90 years old.

Marjorie is survived by her five children, Doug, Dwight, Susan, Katherine, and Leonard; sixteen grandchildren, Terry, Doug Jr. Geoff, Jennifer, Joe, Allan, Crystal, Shawn, Tiele, Chase, Calista, Jacqueline, Stephanie, Kaitlynn, Sabrina, and Angelica; siblings, Ron of California, Bob of Vancouver, Howard, David and Terry Lynn of Calgary along with numerous extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 40 years, Len; her siblings, Jerry, Buddy, Marlene, and Bonnie along with her parents, George and Ella Waters.

Marjorie Waters left Medicine Hat at a young age to find her fame and fortune, for mom this was to become a nanny. On January 1st, 1956 Midge met Len Brost and a new era of life began they were married on July 1st, 1956, and shortly thereafter moved to Calgary, where Len worked for Negler Department Store for 7 years. In 1962 he moved into Real Estate where Len was in his glory selling and he was a major player in the development of the Marlborough and Brentwood areas.

Family was the most important thing to Marjorie. Many family and friends frequently came over to the house where mom was always cooking and with plenty of cows, pigs, and chickens around there was always something to eat not only for the family but for the odd weasel and coyote as well.

Mom was always doing something with the kids, there was a time after a hockey game of Dwight’s in Beiseker that mom treated her son and his friend(s) to beer…a six-pack of beer that is…that meant that each boy got one beer. Mom was progressive.

Mom’s lifelong dream was to take care of her kids. As her kids slowly grew up she found she needed a new source of entertainment. This continued as Mom’s lifelong dream of watching kids became a habit of watching other people’s kids, as she found new life in babysitting a multitude of kids. Now Mom gets to take care of Dad again.

A Funeral will be held at Pierson’s Funeral Service, 4121 – 17 Avenue SE, on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 1:00 pm. Mom will be laid to rest beside Dad at Rocky View Garden of Peace Cemetery.
