It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marion Rast. Marion passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family on March 20, 2026 at the age of 85. She will be deeply and lovingly remembered by her children, Marla (Ed) Hagan, Darcy Rast, Sonja DeCoste; her cherished grandchildren; and her dear sister, Elaine Bader (Jim); and brother, Stan Stadel (Betty); along with extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Trevor; and the love of her life, her husband of 58 years, Leopold (Leo) Rast, in 2016.
Marion was a true social butterfly, affectionately known as “Bubbles” to those who knew and loved her. She enjoyed a long and dedicated career with CIBC, where she worked for over 20 years. Throughout her life, however, her greatest pride and joy was always her family. She held a special place in her heart for each of her children and took immense pride in the lives and accomplishments of her grandchildren.
More than anything, Marion cherished the time she spent with her beloved husband, Leo. Their bond was at the centre of her life, and she carried that love with her always. In recent years, she found great comfort and companionship with her dear sister Elaine, with whom she shared an inseparable friendship right to the very end.
Marion lived for time spent with family. Her warmth, positivity, and vibrant spirit made her the heart of every gathering, and she remained a joyful and engaging presence in the lives of those around her throughout her life.
She will be forever missed by her family, who will carry forward the deep love and pride she had for them. Her legacy lives on in the strength, closeness, and devotion of her children and grandchildren.
Marion’s family would like to thank the staff at Rockyview Hospital Unit 73 and Peter Lougheed Unit 42 for their exceptional care, compassion, and support.
