Marie Therese Erletz

Sep 12, 1934 — Oct 26, 2026

Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness the family of Mary Erletz announces her passing on October 26, 2026 at the Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary, Alberta.

Mary was born on September 12, 1934 in Muglitz, Czechoslovakia. As a young girl, she emigrated to Canada with her family. She grew up on the family farm in the community of Barthel, Saskatchewan where she learned the values of hard work and family dedication. In 1967, Mary and her husband Fred, moved their family to Calgary where they built a life together raising their five children.

Spending time with her family was important and there were many picnics and family gatherings over the years. Mary lived life with a special spirit. She loved listening to music and dancing and she and Fred spent may weekends at the Legion enjoying both. Mary was an avid league bowler, spending many happy seasons on the lanes. However her happiest moments were spent with her family whether she was enjoying family get togethers, going camping, or playing her favourite dice game, 10,000. You could often find her sitting in the stands watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren playing sports. She was their biggest fan, always there to cheer them on through bowling matches, baseball games or soccer tournaments. Mary loved to bake and she kept her family in an endless supply of cookies and butter tarts.

Before retiring, Mary had a rewarding career as a warehouse shipping supervisor.

Mary will be lovingly remembered by her children Barb (Brian) Magill; Barry (Karen) Erletz; Brenda (Brant) Nelson; Wendy (Shawn) MacDiarmid and daughter-in-law Sandra Erletz (The late Robert Erletz); her grandchildren Tyler, Jamie, Andrew, Taylor, Derek, Alejandro, Dustin H, Terry, Kyle, Samantha, Dustin L, Cody, Sarah, Duncan, Lynda, Tena, Logyn, Leona, Sean, Marty and Melissa, as well as her twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary is survived by her sisters Margaret Franz, Olga (Ed) Serediak and Martha (Terry) Walton.

Mary was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Fred; her son Robert; her grandson Bradley; and her great granddaughter Calie.  She was also predeceased by her parents Wilhelm and Margaret Nimrichter and 11 brothers and sisters.
