Marie Anne Longmuir

September 3, 1936 — June 3, 2020

Our beloved sister, aunt and great-aunt passed peacefully on June 3 at the Bethany Care Centre, Airdrie.

Born in Fosterton, SK, Marie is survived by her brothers Ian (Pat, nieces Bonnie, Sherrell, Shelley, nephew Darrell), Donald (Veronica, nephews Curtis, Karman, Nathan), Blair (Shirley, nephews Colin, Kelly), and sister Janet Bunka (Ray, nephews Andrew, Wade, nieces Jamie, Allison), and 22 great nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by parents John and Emma Longmuir, and brother David (Vermayle, nephew Derek).

Marie spent her career as a dedicated school teacher and education mentor for over 35 years, teaching in Saskatchewan and Calgary, AB, specializing her work with the deaf and hard of hearing students. Her hard working, independent nature combined with a fun-loving personality made her admired and loved by all.

Marie enjoyed many of her adult years living in both Calgary and Chestermere, AB. Alongside spending quality time with family and friends, she participated in many hobbies such as arts, crafts, dancing, gardening, and exploring her Scottish and Norwegian heritage.

Marie's family would like to extend thanks to the Bethany Care Centre Airdrie, Prince of Peace Harbour, Foothills Hospital, and her homecare team for their years of support and care.

Our hearts and love are with you, Marie.

A private service will be held on June 10, 2020 at Pierson's Funeral Service and memories can be shared at piersons.ca. The family wishes memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Alberta and/or the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
