It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Rose Tenor on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at her home in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 85 years.
Rose was born on September 17, 1939 at Chaplin, Saskatchewan to Samuel and Beatrice Greenfield. Rose was the youngest of six children, and lived with her family on farms in the Chaplin, Hanley, Ardath, Swanson and Donavon communities. Eventually the family moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where Rose completed high school and obtained a secretarial diploma.
On September 4, 1961 Rose married Bill Tenor, and lived in Regina and then Calgary, where they raised their four children - Brenda, Brian, Alexandra and Darren. Rose worked in various secretarial positions and law offices, and assisted in managing several family businesses. She also volunteered in various community organizations including the Parkdale Nifty Fifties Association and the Bowcliff Seniors. She enjoyed gardening in the summer as well as quilting and knitting. She was an excellent hostess and enjoyed entertaining family and friends.
Rose is survived by her children, Brian, Alexandra and Darren (Katharine); granddaughters, Victoria, Arianna (Isaac) and Natasha; sisters-in-law Doris Greenfield and Estelita Clayton; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Bill Tenor; daughter, Brenda Tenor; parents Samuel and Beatrice Greenfield; sisters Doris and Jean; brothers Ben, Elwood and Douglas.
A Celebration of Life for Rose will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Parkdale Nifty Fifties Centre, 3512 - 5th Avenue NW, Calgary, Alberta T2N 0V7.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the Canadian Red Cross.
