Maisie Ramona Jones

October 7, 1929 — October 4, 2022

Maisie Jones passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 92 years of age. Maisie will be dearly missed by her seven children: Patricia Konosky (Peter) of Suffield, Alberta, Sheila Melnik (Nick), Karen MacNiven (Dugald), Nancy Johnson (Jay), and Jo-Anne Dobson (Joseph) all of Airdrie, Nathan Jones (Genevieve) of Calgary, and Jason Jones (Tiffany) of Turner Valley, 27 grand children, 55 great-grandchildren, a large extended family and many friends. Maisie is also survived by two brothers: Bernard Tynan (Alma) of Wandering River, Alberta, David Tynan of Calgary, and Sister-in-law Linda Tynan also of Calgary.

Maisie was predeceased by her husband LeRoy Earl Jones, parents Verda and Samuel Tynan, brothers Raymond and Albert, and sister-in-law Helga.

Mom/Maisie was a life-long Calgarian, being born and raised here by her goodly parents Samuel and Verda Tynan. After High School, she attended Garbett Business College and then used those new skills working for The Glenmore Newspaper. She met LeRoy as a young girl and their love grew. While Roy served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Bakersfield, California, she completed a service mission of her own. Following their missions Maisie and Roy were married in the Cardston Temple in 1951 and then settled in Calgary to raise their family. Maisie devoted her life to her husband and children and filled their lives with love and laughter. She loved nature and as a family they spent time in the mountains camping and enjoying its beauty. Autumn was her favorite time of year and she enjoyed the harvest colors. Maisie had many talents including painting, beautiful handwriting and remarkable skills in the kitchen. She made home an important place for the entire family to enjoy delicious meals, stories of Banshees, games and innumerable happy times. Mom had a deep and abiding faith in God and was a devoted member of the Church. She served faithfully in a variety of callings including a full-time mission to Arizona following the death of her husband in 1989, and was a great example to her family and friends. She loved the Gospel, her Heavenly Father, her Savior and her family.

A funeral service will be held for Maisie at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints – Reunion Chapel (900 Reunion Gateway, Airdrie) on Saturday, October 15 at 11:00 am. Following a lunch reception, interment will take place at the Eden Brook Memorial Gardens in Calgary.
