Luther Edmond Wood

Luther Edmond Wood was born on September 11, 1932 in Stavely, Alberta. He passed away with his family by his side at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, AB on February 6, 2016. Luther will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Shirley; his two children, his daughter Della (Greg) Stannard and his son Glenn (Sheila) Wood; his grandchildren Josh (Bailey), Lindsay, and Jenn; his great-grandchild Everley. Luther was predeceased by his daughter Janice, his parents, and his six siblings. Luther served with the Calgary Police Services for 17 years and from there continued to serve in government service until his retirement. His family will always remember the great passion that he had for motorcycles. He had a great fondness for camping, he loved dogs, and he really enjoyed watching sports. Luther truly enjoyed being with people and was always ready with a great story to share and his sense of humour ensured he always had a good joke ready to be told. Luther did not want to have a funeral. His family is honouring his wishes. In lieu of flowers, they are requesting that donations be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ab.ca).
