Lucia Pion passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at the age of 97 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Therese (Gordon) Murphy; grandchildren, John (Janice), Diane (Robert), David (Maryetta), Danny (Janet), Chelsea (Brian), Nathan, Kari (Kyle) and Kevin; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; sister Stella Filipponio; and many more family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Lucien, son Robert and daughter Bernadette. Lucia was born in Bari, Italy in 1915. In 1920 the family immigrated to Canada and made Montreal their home. She met and married her husband Lucien in Montreal and started her family there. She was always proud of her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was key in the organization of the church in Chateauguay, QC. In 1977 the family moved to Calgary, which has been home ever since. Lucia loved to paint and her greatest love was her family. Funeral Services will be held for Lucia at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, West Stake Centre, 6560 Silver Springs Crescent NW, on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, #100, 119 14 Street NW, Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6.
