Lorna Isabel O’Brien (Nee Scott)

June 8, 1930 — August 29, 2021

Lorna O’Brien passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at the age of 91 years. She will be missed dearly by her husband of 69 years, Jack, and sons Mike (Diane), Tom (Susannah), Don (Linda) and daughter Susan along with 10 grandchildren, their spouses, many great grandchildren, her sister Florence MacKenzie, sister-in-laws Kay and Marj O’Brien and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Ruby and Walter Scott, brother Jim Scott, Sisters Luella (Al) Harrison, Edna (Kelly) MacFarlane, Viola (Steve) Nagy, brother-in-law Murdo MacKenzie.

Lorna was born in Hanna, Alberta June 8, 1930. She grew up on a farm in Delia and later went to school in Drumheller. She worked in the hospital in Hanna as a nurse assistant. She met the love of her life in Peace River Alberta.

Lorna loved being a Wife, Mother, Grandma and Great Grandma. She was an exceptional cook. No one went home hungry from mom’s/ grandma’s house. She taught her children and grandchildren many meaningful and treasured lessons in life. The greatest gift that she gave her family and her friends was her time.

Lorna joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints early in her marriage. She loved the church. One of her greatest qualities was that of service to others. She served many diligently through the years.

In place of a funeral, her immediate family will hold a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks to consider donating to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta (www.alzheimer.ca/ab).
