Lois Mary Plattner, born on May 10, 1943, in Montreal, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta. She leaves behind a cherished legacy marked by her contributions to both the hospitality industry and her close-knit family.

Lois began her career in the hospitality sector at the Bonaventure Hotel, where her passion for food and service flourished. She later purchased and operated the Alpine Cafeteria alongside her husband, Gerhard Plattner, who served as the head chef. Together, they created a beloved establishment known for its warmth and inviting atmosphere, showcasing Lois’s talent for hosting and cooking, which she enjoyed immensely.

Educated in Food and Beverage Management, Lois carried her knowledge into every aspect of her life, combining her skills and creativity in delightful meals that brought family and friends together.

Lois was not only dedicated to her career but also had a profound love for nature. She enjoyed camping and the stunning beauty of the Rocky Mountains, spending many weekends surrounded by the great outdoors. An avid lover of animals, especially cats, her nurturing spirit was reflected in all her pursuits. She found joy in classic movies and country music, and could often be found with guitar in hand when everyone nestled around cozy campfires during her many adventures in the mountains.

Throughout her life, Lois was a source of love and strength for her family. She is survived by her daughters, Paula (Chad) Wiseman, Nellie Plattner, and Lynn Koch; her granddaughters, Trinity (Nic) Botelho, Karlie Plattner, and Alysha Plattner; and her grandsons, Evan Wiseman, Matt Koch, and Paul Koch. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Yara and Hudson. Lois is survived by her sister, Joan, of Toronto. Her family mourns the loss of their beloved grandmother, great-grandmother, mother, and sister.

Lois was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Gerhard Plattner, and her son, Guy Plattner. She who also joins her brother Paul and sisters Velma and Carol, as well as her parents, Kathleen and Mark Myers, in eternal rest. 

Lois' spirit, filled with love, laughter, and a zest for life, will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be missed deeply and remembered lovingly by all whose lives she touched.
