Life Story of Liya Tekie Demoz

Our beloved, kind, humble, and deeply cherished Liya was born on January 1, 1995, in the city of Adi Keyh, Southern Region of Eritrea, to her late father Tekie Demoz and her devoted mother, Tiebe Tsegay.

She completed her education from Grade 1 through Grade 10 in the city of Dubaruba, Southern Region. After finishing her studies, she spent several years actively and joyfully supporting and working in her family’s business.

In 2016, Liya migrated to Ethiopia, where she lived as a refugee until 2019. On November 11, 2019, she arrived in Canada, where she began a new chapter in her life.

On January 29, 2022, she traveled to Addis Ababa to attend her brother’s wedding and spent approximately three months there with her siblings. In April 2023, she returned to Addis Ababa with her sister, Bisrat Tekie, where she devoted herself to spiritual renewal, spending about three months in holy water at the Monastery of Abune Teklehaimanot in Debre Libanos.

Six months later, on September 2, 2023, she entered a sacred marriage with her beloved husband, Semereab Asmelash, and was blessed to become a loving mother to one child.

On Wednesday, April 4, 2026, at 1:40 PM, Liya peacefully passed away in her sleep. May God rest her soul at His right hand, among our holy forefathers Abraham and Isaac.

ክብርቲ ፍትውቲ ፈቃር ለዋህ ኣዚና እንፈትዋ ልያ ካብ ነፍስሄር ወላዲኣ ተኪኤ ደሞዝን ክብርቲ ወላዲታ ትዕበ ጸጋይን ብዕለት 1 ጥሪ 1995 ኣብ ከተማ ዓዲ ቐይሕ ዞባ ደቡብ ተወሊዳ።

ካብ 1ይ ክሳብ 10ይ (ካብ መባእታ ካስብ ካልኣይ ደረጃ) ኣብ ከተማ ድባርዋ ዞባ ደቡብ ተማሂራ። 10ይ ክፍሊ ምስ ወደኣት፣ ኣብ ናይ ስድራቤት ዋኒን ንነዊሕ ዓመታት ብንጥፈትን ብሓጎስን ክትሰርሕ ድሕሪ ምጽናሕ፣ ኣብ 2016 ዓ/ም ናብ ስደት ን ኢትዮጵያ ኣምሪሓ። ካብ 2016 ክሳብ 2019 ከም ስደተኛ ኣብ ኢትዮጵያ ድሕሪ ምጽናሓ፣ ኣብ ሕዳር 11 2019 ን ካናዳ ኣትያ።

ኣብ ጥሪ 29, 2022 ናብ ኣዲስ ኣበባ ብምኽንያት መርዓ ሓዋ ምስ ኩሎም የሕዋታ ን 3 ወርሒ ዝኣክል ኣብኡ ጸኒሓ። ኣብ ሚያዝያ 2023 ክኣ ናብ ኣዲስ ኣበባ ምስ ሓብታ ብስራት ተኪኤ ንኣስታት 3 ወርሒ ጸበል ገዳም ኣቡነ ተኽለሃይማኖት ደብረ ሊባኖስ እናተጠምቀት ድሕሪ ምጽናሕ፣ ድሕሪ 6 ወርሒ ምስ ኩቡር ብዓልቤታ ሰመረኣብ ኣስመላሽ ብዕለት 2, መስከረም 2023 ቅዱስ ዝኾነ ቃልኪዳን ፈጸመት ኣደ ሓደ ውሉድ ድማ ኮነት።

ኣብ ሚያዝያ 4 2026 ሮቡዕ ማዓልቲ ስዓት 1፡40 ድሕሪ ቐትሪ ብሃንደበት ኣብ መደቀሲኣ ካብ’ዛ ዓለም ተፈልያትና ኣላ እሞ ኣብ የማን ኢዱ ምስቶም ቅዱሳን ኣቦታትና ኣብራሃምን ይሳቕን የንብረልና።
