Leslie Dawn McCaughey (Newman)

Leslie McCaughey passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025 at the age of 66 years.

Leslie was the heart and soul of our family - the constant presence whose smile lit up every room and whose kindness touched everyone she met. A loving grandmother to five grandchildren and one great-grandchild, she found her greatest joy in the laughter and love shared with them. “Grandchildren’s Day” was more than just a tradition in her home - it was a celebration of family, fun, and the memories she so thoughtfully created.

She had a zest for life that could be seen in the little things she adored: her collection of thimbles, her beloved cats, and her affection for ladybugs. Whether she was enjoying her favorite TV shows, dancing to music (especially the Dwight Yoakam dance), or indulging in her favorite sweets, Leslie did it all with a sparkle in her eye and joy in her heart.

Board games with loved ones, long talks with friends, and moments surrounded by family were her treasures. Her distinct laugh will be a treasured fun memory for all who knew her. A creative spirit with a generous heart, Leslie taught us the importance of savoring life’s simple pleasures. She believed in living fully, laughing freely, and loving deeply. Her favorite flowers, chrysanthemums, will forever remind us of her grace, beauty, and quiet strength.

Leslie is survived by her daughters, Trisha (Barclay) Ross and Joni McCaughey (Peter Karasz); grandchildren, Breanne (Jason), Kira, Liam, Ava, Skye, great-granddaughter Paisley, sibling, Daryl (Karl); brother-in-law, Derek; and good friend, Bill Sullivan; and extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Patricia; father, Lyle; and sister, Shelley.

Though we mourn her loss, we celebrate the love she gave so freely and the legacy she leaves behind. Leslie’s memory lives on in every heart she touched. And just like her favorite saying - Live, Laugh, Love - may we carry her spirit with us, always.
